ABOUT
What is ATILIM TacticalTraining (A-TT) ?
ATILIM TacticalTraining is a synthesis of ATILIM WingTsun and ATILIM Escrima which has been developed for tactical use of security units.
What is the difference between ATILIM WingTsun-Escrima and ATILIM TacticalTraining?
ATILIM WingTsun and ATILIM Escrima are the two styles that are taught in ATILIM. However, ATILIM TacticalTraining is based on these two martial arts system but specifically developed for the tactical use of security units (i.e. private security, public police, riot control police, prison guards, Customs Guards, Special Forces, military squads etc.).
For example, no civilian or ordinary security officer need to learn how to extract a person out of a car, but this is very important for an organized crime police or a special force officer. As a result of more than 17 years of practice with the elite police forces and Special Forces these techniques have been injected into tactical operational use by many agencies.
In a normal ATILIM WingTsun-Escrima school, a student doesn't learn how to transport a handcuffed person up and down stairs. But this is very important for a prison guard.
Or a civilian student never learns how to secure weapon, but this is essential for a police officer.
Anybody can learn ATILIM WingTsun or ATILIM Escrima, but ATILIM TacticalTraining is taught only for the security units.
What does "ATILIM TacticalTraining Modular Curriculum" mean?
Each security unit has different needs. In ATILIM TacticalTraining, the needs of security units were studied systematically and different modules have been developed and being developed according to the needs of different units.
The base of ATILIM TacticalTraining curriculum is the basis for any security staff. From wide base to the peak point, different modules have been placed and they are taught according to the needs of each security units.
The base is common for anybody related to security. These modules are pre-requisite ones. Following these modules, standalone modules are designed and tailored according to the need assessment of each respective unit.
ATILIM TacticalTraining
ATILIM TacticalTraining (A-TT) is a modular training concept. A-TT is presented in a contemporary format with structural and modular upgrades and contributions to the applications that have been developed upon the experiences for more than 30 years of international training with all types of law enforcement units.
The curriculum is internationally accepted due to its democraitc and human rights respecting approach. The concept can be custom-tailored in accordance with the needs of respective agencies.
WHY?
Principles of ATILIM TacticalTraining
What is ATILIM TacticalTraining (A-TT) ?
ATILIM TacticalTraining TECHNIQUES are “MEDIA-FRIENDLY”
From the very beginning to the very end, ATILIM TacticalTraining techniques involves non-aggressive and
quick engagement maneuvers so that the suspect is not provoked, and taken down swiftly.
The control/carry along/submission techniques taught in ATILIM TacticalTraining are mostly based on principles of both mechanical and pain-induced control. This ensures that even when the pain resulting from the pressure points is not enough, the suspect can be kept under control mechanically.
This approach ensures that no kicks or punches are used during the application of the techniques and mechanical holds along with pain inducing pressures guarantees no awkward scenes for neither the public nor the media.
ATILIM TacticalTraining is PROVEN TO BE “EFFECTIVE”, “EFFICIENT” and “PRACTICAL”
The techniques are fast and reliable, and they practically work under all conditions that the officers are exposed to from a regular patrol to a hostage rescue or hijacking operations. In developing ATILIM TacticalTraining techniques, one of the main principles is maximum control over the subject with minimum possible force applied and minimum possible strength used. While this requires use of all body parts and available equipment during the application of the techniques simultaneously, it provides the officer with enough leverage even against a stronger suspect or multiple suspects. Of course, as mentioned in other parts of this document, teamwork and tactical use of the techniques is never underestimated and seen as an individual weakness, instead collective application of techniques within a tactical setting is encouraged to save time and energy.
ATILIM TacticalTraining is “REALISTIC”
ATILIM TacticalTraining recognizes the strengths and weaknesses of human condition and identifies the fact that all practitioners of the system regardless of age or gender should be able to apply those techniques efficiently. Thus, ATILIM TacticalTraining techniques are developed realistically and the instructions are provided in a setting that reflects the real environment. In a sense the trainees are not kept in a sterile environment where they feel unbreakable, rather they are shown what is really out there with all its consequences. Furthermore, one of the principles of ATILIM TacticalTraining is to eradicate false expectations and ready the trainees for always expecting the unexpected.
ATILIM TacticalTraining is “SCIENTIFIC”
All aspects of ATILIM TacticalTraining are scientifically based. The teaching methodology employed is micro-teaching approach based on situational awareness and supported by andragogy. Part of the training includes even how dietary practices of an effective law enforcement officer should be. Functional anatomy, physical and psychological effects of fear and stress, possible dysfunctions and syndromes related to non-preparedness, lack of training are also other parts of the concept. We have experts and academics that study those issues and we conduct seminars for our training cadre on latest developments on those issues along with refreshing the application of techniques.
ATILIM TacticalTraining is a “WHOLE SYSTEM”
Both in terms of techniques and teaching methodology, ATILIM TacticalTraining is a whole system where any and all aspects of police tactics are integrated. All techniques of ATILIM TacticalTraining are taught not in bits and pieces but as part of a whole. For each tactical approach all techniques start with a standard behavior and end with a standard behavior. Be it submission, carry along or handcuffing. So, unlike many other training systems or methodologies, teaching a technique for apprehending a subject does not just include the part where the suspect is neutralized but includes all parts starting from initial contact and verbal interaction to engaging for the arrest, neutralizing the suspect and finalizing the technique by a take down or carry along and handcuffing. During the sessions each technique starts with initial contact and ends with control. Because in ATILIM TacticalTraining, we believe that the “whole” is greater than the sum of its parts.
ATILIM TacticalTraining is “MEDICALLY PROVEN”
All techniques included in ATILIM TacticalTraining are approved by a board including medical experts and sports health professionals. Apart from the periodical control of the techniques by medical experts, the testimonies of the professionals that apply those techniques everyday on the streets reveal that with ATILIM TacticalTraining there are demonstrably less injuries and less risk in use.
ATILIM TacticalTraining is “FLEXIBLE and ADAPTABLE”
The transition between the principles is fairly easy. Thus, when the situation changes the practitioners can easily adapt to the new situation or address the newly emerged threat. The principles of ATILIM TacticalTraining can be used both in static (controlled situations) and dynamic (sudden attack) environments. In addition to this flexibility, the techniques based on the general principles are easy to learn and adaptable to new situations, because the systematic approach regardless of the conditions of the situation, contact or arrest is not significantly different and thus often similar processes are repeated. In that sense the use of principles are universally applicable and adaptable and this is one of the biggest advantages of ATILIM TacticalTraining.
ATILIM TacticalTraining is “EASY to LEARN” and “EASY to APPLY”
The philosophy behind ATILIM TacticalTraining methodology is that just like a master key can open all locks, principles or master techniques should serve multiple purposes. A principal or master technique applied on the wrist can also be applied on the elbow, shoulder, neck, knee at all possible positions, be it standing or lying or sitting. Thus, unlike many other methodologies, in ATILIM TacticalTraining basic techniques or principles are taught and each situation these techniques can be used is defined and practiced. Otherwise one would need not only to practice a different technique for each body posture and position but also for each situation.
ATILIM TacticalTraining is BASED on “COLLECTIVE EXPERIENCE”
One of the most important aspects of ATILIM TacticalTraining is that it is used daily by thousands of officers throughout many forces around the world and experiences obtained via the practitioners in the field are shared during training seminars. Along with best practices, frequently made mistakes and frequently encountered problems are also discussed and accordingly addressed.
In USA?
ATILIM TacticalTraining in United States
Within a project to improve its cooperation with US law enforcement community, Sifu Hasan AKIN coordinated a series of tactical training seminars in USA.
The first step of the seminars was held in December 2013. Seminars in FBI Academy and Fairfax Criminal Justice Training Academy were conducted in December 2013. A second series of seminars was organized just for the Fairfax Criminal Justice Academy and two train-the-trainers seminars and two seminars for the students of the Academy were instructed in March 2014.
In the third series of seminars, a series of seminars in joint training program with CSX Rapid Response Teams on 22-24 April 2014 was coordinated.
